Conservation
IDP works internationally to advance the field of conservation by promoting scientific research, field projects, education and training, and through the dissemination of information by various media. IDP aims at bringing together professionals in the field of conservation from different countries in order to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise, to promote international exchanges and to encourage the consolidation of professional relationships between members of the IDP community and the wider conservation and scientific communities.
Improving conservation practice within institutions affiliated with IDP is one of the organizing principles of our work. This includes identifying activities that can improve knowledge of and skills in treating cultural objects, comprising training, workshops, seminars, forums and conferences which allow IDP members to meet on a regular basis and exchange experiences, knowledge and skills; pursuing research that expands conservation knowledge; and increasing access to information on conservation subjects.
One of the endeavours of IDP is the establishment of guidelines in conservation and the diffusion and promotion of international published standards among its members.
