Many scholarly works have examined the economic, social and cultural significance of the Silk Roads in pre-modern Eurasia. But what was it like to actually travel on the Silk Roads?

Dr Xin Wen (Princeton University) explores these questions in his lecture ‘A Traveler’s History of the Silk Road’, given for the Georgetown – IDP Lecture Series: Following the Silk Roads to North America, which was generously supported by the Henry Luce Foundation. The lecture was streamed live on 11 August 2021.
