Scope and content : Photograph by John Vincent of Dunhuang Mogao Cave 285 in 1948 captioned in his list as 'East quadrant of ceiling. Pelliot CCLXVIII.' The image is reproduced as Plate 24 (colour) in Basil Gray, 'Buddhist Cave Paintings at Tun-Huang' (Faber: London 1959), which is captioned: 'Above, Fu-Hsi [Fuxi] and Nü-wa [Nuwa]. Below, Yakshas and Vayu, the wind demon. Dated A.D. 538.'
