Description
Scope and content : Watercolour by Robert Melville Grindlay (1786-1877), signed 'R. M. Grindlay.' and inscribed in pencil on album page, 'Affghan drawn at Poonah for the Honorable Mounstuart Elphinstone for his work on Cabul 1813.' This is the orignal watercolour for the illustration reproduced as plate VII, facing p. 369, in Mountstuart Elphinstone, Account of the Kingdom of Caubul (London, 1815), there titled, 'An Afghaun of Damaun.'
