Scope and content : Watercolour, inscribed in ink above painting, 'Douranee Shepherd' and below, 'Plate II' and in pencil on album page 'by native artist.'This is the original watercolour for the right hand figure in plate II, facing p. 239, of Mountstuart Elphinstone, Account of the Kingdom of Caubul (London, 1815). The figure as reproduced is reversed.
