Description
Scope and content : Albumen print by Dr (later Sir) Benjamin Simpson, signed and numbered in the negative 'B. Simpson 30.'This is one of a series of photographs taken by Simpson and later marketed by the Indian photographic studio of Bourne and Shepherd, whose catalogue describes the photograph as follows: 'Group, Ayaub's Ambassador, Abdulla Khan sitting on the right, his son on the left, and Umrjan Sahib Zadah in the centre. The last named is said to have raised all Ghazis against us at Maiwand.'
