Description
Scope and content : Fragment of a wall-painting showing the head of a Bodhisattva, surrounded by a nimbus in red and black. The lower part of the face is missing, the head is turned to the left with the half-closed eyes looking into the same direction. In the middle of the forehead the third eye (_r__) is indicated. The Bodhisattva wears an elaborate headdress. While all outlines are painted in bright red, the hair as well as eyebrows and pupils are black. The pigments used are still very vibrant, especially the flesh-coloured paint used for the skin looks very natural and gives the painting a lifelike appearance.
