Scope and content : Photograph by John Vincent of Dunhuang Mogao Cave 428 in 1948 captioned in his list as 'Ceiling of cave. Detail includes pair of tigers facing each other.' The image is that reproduced as Plate 17 (colour) in Basil Gray, 'Buddhist Cave Paintings at Tun-Huang' (Faber: London 1959), which is captioned: 'Decorated ceiling. About A.D. 520–30.'
