Description
Scope and content : Watercolour by 'by native artist' (inscribed in pencil on album page), with title inscribed in ink above painting, and below, 'Plate X to face page 1103'.This is the original watercolour for the illustration reproduced as plate X, facing p. 469, in Mountstuart Elphinstone, Account of the Kingdom of Caubul (London, 1815). Elphinstone's text notes that the portrait represents 'Mahommed Hussan, a native of Wurdaunzye near Bokhaura, whose father was an Uzbek and his mother a Syud.'
