Find site description

A small ruined stupa in the Hanguya area, 15 miles north-east of Khotan, known locally as Arka-kuduk-tim or 'the Mound of the Back Well'. Very eroded but brick-made with bricks of 19 x 13 in. Stein acquired Sino-kharasthi coins in Khotan which were said to come from here.

Excavation history : Stein visited Hanguya Tati on 5 April 1901. Found remains of a ruined stupa, picked up or purchased objects from the site. (Stein 1907, pp. 470-473).
