Description
Scope and content : Plate 14, Irene Vongehr Vincent, 'The Sacred Oasis' (London, 1953). 2 copies. Caption reads: 'Scenes from Buddha's last birth (?) and jataka tale. Central panel represents assault by Mara and other events of Buddha's life (?). Panel at right is jataka of the tigress, whose hindquarters can be seen at extreme lower right. Two niches contain painted clay sculptures; the one at right is badly defaced. Demons on dado.'
