Description
Scope and content : Plate 7, Basil Gray and John B. Vincent, 'Buddhist Cave Paintings at Tun-Huang' (London, 1959: 39). Caption reads: 'About A.D. 500. Below five rows of eighteen Buddhas each, part of the Thousand Buddhas represented in this cave, is a predella showing Śākyamuni, on the right, and the Seven Buddhas of the Past, in panels separated from one another by long cartouches.' Negative at Photo 1231/1(23).
