Description
Scope and content : Fragmentary relief plaque showing the Buddha. He is shown seated against a vesica bordered by lotus petals. His legs are crossed, the eyes closed and the hands ,which are covered by the folds of his garment, are held in meditation position (dhy_na mudr_). The fragmentary head is surrounded by a halo and has strongly elongated earlobes. The figure was made of yellowish clay using a mould and was covered with a white slip before being fired.
