Description
Scope and content : Plate 12, Irene Vongehr Vincent, 'The Sacred Oasis' (London, 1953). Captions reads: 'Buddha and bodhisattvas. Simulated beam-ends visible above Huddha's canopy. Two brackets made of wood have been inserted into wall at peak of ceiling and to the left, where this portion of the chapel adjoins the main portion. Oxidation is evident in darkness of skin and over-prominent highlights.' Negative at Photo 1231/1(26).

Find site description
A site visited by Stein on his 3rd expedition in the Kucha region, near the east bank of the Muzart river, 10 miles SW of Kucha town. The base of a ruined stupa survives immediately above the mouth of the defile. Fragments of hard coloured stucco were found below the western face of the Stupa base, and an interesting relic was recovered among the rubble. No further information entered at present.
