Description
Scope and content : Fragment of a clay relief plaque showing a seated Buddha. He has a head nimbus enclosed by a plain band and is shown seated against a vesica which is bordered by lotus petals. His legs are crossed, the hands held in the meditation position (dhy_na mudr_). The plaque was made using a mould, covered with a slip and then fired. It is very worn so that for instance the facial features are no longer discernible.
