Description

Scope and content : Despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department (Secret/Frontier), to the Secretary of State for India dated Simla 4 June 1886, forwarding correspondence regarding Afghanistan, relating to the work of the Afghan Boundary Commission.No. 4, records selection of Shadian as Missions's summer quarters, 'in case they are detained in Afghanistan'; No. 5, telegram from the Amir, 25 May 1886, states 'that he does not consider it expedient to remove the restrictions he has imposed on the weight, etc., of the mails for the Afghan Boundary Commission and the British Agent at Kabul'; no. 6, from the Commissioner, Peshawar, dated 26 May 1886, 'forwards translation of a letter from His Highness the Amir, dated 21st May, objecting to Colonel Ridgeway's proposals respecting the Kham-i-ab and pasturage questions, and offering an alternative proposal.'
