Description
Scope and content : Plate 7, Irene Vongehr Vincent, 'The Sacred Oasis' (London, 1953). Captions reads: 'Close-up of a damaged chapel, its shape typical of the majority of chapels both large and small, and even of the inside, about two feet high, of some of the stupas on the east bank of the river bed. The projecting wall at right is all that remains of its ante-chapel. Fragments of wall painting retain some pigment despite decades of exposure to sun.' Negative at Photo 1231/1(67).
