Description

Scope and content : Figure of a Gandharva made of clay and painted. Gandharvas are male nature spirits said to have superb musical skills. The one shown here seems to be floating in the air with both arms extended to the side, holding a shawl. The hair of the gandharva is in a bun, its upper body is bare and it wears a necklace, earrings and two bands around its upper arms. Traces of red pigments remain, most of the features are not clearly discernible as they are very worn.
