Description
Scope and content : Despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department (Frontier) to the Secretary, Political and Secret Department, India Office, dated Simla 7 May 1886, forwarding for the information of the Secretary of State for India, copies of newsletters from Kandahar, written by the British newswriter Mirza Muhammad Takki and dated 5 and 13 April 1886. Contains some matter on the activities of the Afghan Boundary Commission and restrictions placed on their freedom of movement: 'The Governor told me that, as I was aware, he dare not allow any British servant to come to Kandahar without the Amir's permission, and that the information he received from the Amir in this case was that surveyors would proceed from the Shorawak frontier to the Helmond, and thence retrace their steps, and that as it now appeared they intended to coming to Kandahar, he could not allow them to do so.'
