Fragment of a vessel made of brown, very fine clay. It is the upper part of a handle which has been attached separately to the vessel. Its top part is modelled to look like a thick leaf and curves outwards and downwards. The lip of the vessel, located behind the curved part of the handle, is thin and very flat.

Scope and content : Fragment of a vessel made of brown, very fine clay. It is the upper part of a handle which has been attached separately to the vessel. Find site description
Site in the area of Yurung-kash, 15-20 miles ENE of Khotan on the southern arm of the Silk Road. (Stein 1921: map no. 27, A. 4). Stein found the ruins of a temple and Buddhist shrine. Objects included various stucco and relievo fragments that had been partly preserved by a fire.
Excavation history : Stein excavated here between 18 Sept. and 22 Sept. 1906 (see Stein 1921: 133-153).
