Scope and content : Photograph by John Vincent of Dunhuang Mogao Cave 249 in 1948 marked on negative as 'out of focus' and 11/3A. 11/3 is captioned in his list as 'South wall, showing portion of painting of large Buddha. Opp. end (not shown) of Pelliot pl. CLXXXVI.'' The painting is that reproduced as Plate 10 in Basil Gray, 'Buddhist Cave Paintings at Tun-Huang' (Faber: London 1959), which is captioned: 'Sakyamuni standing on the Vulture Peak. Early sixth century.' but this is taken from a different negative.
