An area of scrub-covered low sand hillocks stretching east of the stream of Domoko, 60-80 miles east of Khotan on the southern arm of the Silk Road. Remains of a destroyed Buddhist shrine were found, similar to that at Khadalik in plan and decoration, but probably smaller. Small pieces of painted wood from posts were plentiful. No sign of destruction by fire. No further information entered at present.
Excavation history : Stein excavated here on March 13, 1908
Short description : Karayantak - area east of Domoko
