Description
Scope and content : Fragment of wall-painting. Shown are head and shoulders of the Buddha, probably seated in meditation pose before a mandorla. The head is surrounded by a nimbus and turned to the right side, the eyes looking in the same direction. Clearly visible are the elongated earlobes and the third eye (_r__) in the middle of the forehead. All the outlines are painted in bright red, the robe was then coloured in in a dark red or brown, while hair, lashes and eyebrows are black. The backing of the wall-painting is made of plaster mixed with organic fibres. It was covered by an additional layer of stucco upon which then was painted.
