Scope and content : This view shows a Tajik family group standing in front of the cliffs of the Bamiyan valley, with¾the niche containing the large figure of Buddha on the far right.¾As well as¾managing to convey¾the sharp relief of the caves dotting the rock-face and the scale of the mountains in the distance,¾Atkinson¾took¾care in recording the costumes that were then worn in the central highlands of Afghanistan.
