Description

Scope and content : 'No. 47 (although incorrectly marked '48' on negative) in I. Vincent's wallet captioned 'B-3 Cave 300 P017 late Tang ceiling of niche'. With content print with '300' crossed out and replaced by '156' (Cave 156 is correct). Reproduced as Plate 38, Irene Vongehr Vincent, 'The Sacred Oasis' (London, 1953), with the caption: 'West Wall. Panel over central alcove. 'Thousand eyes, thousand hands' Avalokitesvara.' Enlarged print Photo 1231/4(38).
