Description
Scope and content : No. 104 in I. Vincent's wallet but numbers and captions confused. Reproduced as Plate 6, Irene Vongehr Vincent, 'The Sacred Oasis' (London, 1953), with the caption: 'Central portion of the caves, showing four levels of chapels. One timbered stucco ante-chapel, to the left of the tree, is intact, as is one just above it. The staircase visible at the extreme right leads from a p'ai lou, or archway, called Ku Han Ch'iao, the Ancient Han bridge, reckoned the centre of the cave-chapels.' Enlarged print Photo 1234/4(6).
