Description
Scope and content : Dunhuang woodblock printed calendar/almanac. With a note in large characters reading: 'Large Printing of the Dadao Family in the Eastern Market of Shangdu'. Shangdu was the name of the capital, Chang'an, at this time. Private printing of calendars/almanacs was forbidden by an imperial decree of 835. This piece was possible printed after this proscription.
